This $531 million design/build cable stayed bridge and approaches is the largest highway project awarded in South Carolina. When finished it will be the longest at (471m 1546 feet) cable stayed bridge in North America.
The main span and the approaches consist of multi-long span steel plate girders. The total weight of steel for the bridge is over 41,000 tons. Somerset is providing all design for the erection methods and equipment together with erection analysis for the approaches of which 30% are curved.
