The I-95 Interchange was the largest single contract
ever let by the Florida D.O.T. This four-level interchange and adjoining
structures consist of curved, steel trapezoidal box girders, in
lifted assemblies of up to 280 feet long, totalling 14,000 tons.
Somerset produced the initial scheme and erection
estimate for our client and upon contract award, developed all procedures,
lifting devices and stress checks for construction. The bridges
were planned to be erected with minimal disruption to existing traffic
passing through the site; our sequencing and cranage specifications
were planned accordingly.
