Lacey V. Murrow Bridge

Seattle, Washington

For all the existing fixed spans on this major widening and refurbishing project, we produced special procedures for implementation.

Our innovative method for widening the two 215 foot arches was to temporarily brace each arch line and using eight horizontally mounted hydraulic screw actuators, to slide the open spans on UHMW/PE skid support beams. We also provided designs and procedures to simultaneously jack a three span continuous, 450 foot long truss approach bridge to allow the main bearings to be changed. For the new construction we designed special built temporary supports for a three span, 525 foot haunched C.I.P. box structure.
