Structural Steel Connections Design and Steel Detailing

Somerset offer full structural steel connection design services for structural steel fabricators and general contractors. Our design team have expertise in fabrication and erection methods and details to enhance the design of efficient connections. We have developed multiple standards to enable us to look at connection alternatives to determine the most efficient, economical and safe detailed connections. We use our Tekla modeling software to integrate the details into the most difficult or complex connections to ensure the members are easily erected in the field.

We also offer structural steel detailing for the fabricator or general contractor. By offering both design and detailing in house it greatly reduces the time frame required and eliminates duplication and miscommunication if two separate companies were involved. Our 3D design and detailing software, Tekla, is compatible for direct use in shop CNC machinery and FabTrol files. We also offer AutoCAD detailing.

Somerset has also worked closely with many construction companies and the “Engineer of Record” with design/assist to help develop economical permanent structural components and modifications for the design of bolted and welded connection details. The design/assist process can enhance the schedule time greatly. Utilizing our extensive experience, Somerset Engineering can work with the EOR to develop practical fabrication details for all types of structural steel connections and speed up the preliminary processes. We can also advise on the erection phasing for smooth product flow through the shop and field erection sequencing. All these components offered in design/assist helps the fabricator/erector achieve greater pricing accuracy.
